With 12 years experience in
general industrial hygiene, we have provided a wide variety of services
including traditional health and safety audits, worker exposure monitoring,
confined space assessments, hazardous waste site safety plan development, noise
measurements and exposure assessments, radon assessments, and a variety of
training.
We have assisted businesses in
all aspects of worker health and safety management from developing basic health
and safety and accident prevention programs to performing complete site health
and safety audits. In each case, the services provided were customized to
address specific concerns or to comply with specific regulations.
One of the major applications for
industrial hygiene is the documentation of worker exposure to various chemicals
in the work place as required by OSHA. We have designed air- monitoring
programs and collected air samples in a wide variety of work settings to address
specific chemical exposures. These sampling programs are designed to collect as
much data as possible while making best use of available budgets. Our
experience allows us to tailor each air sample collection project to the
specific job or site, which in turn, provides our clients with solid, objective
data suitable for OSHA compliance.
Our personnel are experienced in
the use of most types of industrial hygiene equipment including sample pumps and
calibrators, air velocity measurement instruments, several types of
direct-reading vapor monitors and noise meters. During the collection of
samples documenting worker exposures our personnel utilize methods developed and
approved by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
Samples are analyzed at accredited laboratories utilizing NIOSH analytical
methods.
An additional service which
Northern personnel have provided is customized training to address specific
issues. In particular, we have developed and provided training for workers at
hazardous waste sites including the OSHA mandatory 40 hour initial class, the
8-hour annual refresher class and the 8-hour supervisor class. We have also
developed and provided specific training to client personnel to address specific
chemicals. Such training is designed to comply with OSHA's Hazard Communication
(HAZCOM) standard.
