~Laboratory Services~

Northern Industrial Hygiene supplements its comprehensive environmental and industrial hygiene capabilities with specialized microscopy services. Our laboratory is accredited by National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) to perform asbestos bulk sample analysis using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).  Our accreditation number is NVLAP Laboratory code #200511-0.
We also analyze air monitoring samples using Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) fiber counting and participate in the Industrial Hygiene Proficiency Testing Program (IHPAT).

Each of our analysts has over ten years’ of experience in the asbestos industry analyzing bulk asbestos samples and performing asbestos fiber counts.

Our microscopy and materials characterization capabilities include:

  • Asbestos fiber counts by phase contrast microscopy (PCM)

  • Asbestos analyses of bulk materials by polarized light microscopy (PLM)

  • Refractory fibers

Northern can provide rapid turnaround times for our clients.  Rush samples can be analyzed in two hours.  Northern can also provide night and weekend analysis if requested in advance.
